Papakha Hat

Papakha Hat and Kubanka Hat (Kuban Papakha) are traditional Russian and Caucasian man’s fur headdress (from a sheepskin or astrakhan fur), common among many nations and nationalities in the world, an element of a military uniform.
In the Russian army, the prototype of the papakha was a fur hat, which since 1817 was worn by soldiers of some units in the Caucasus and Central Asia. However, officially as a winter headdress, and even then only in the Cossack troops, the cap was established only in 1855.
